Weekly business newspaper to ceaseA weekly business newspaper ‘The Independent’, which was published by Fairfax Media, will cease publishing from July 1. The newspaper’s eight journalists will then be writing business news for daily newspapers and websites of the company.

The newspaper was established by investigative journalists, Warren Berryman and Jenni McManus. McManus still writes for The Independent, while Berryman died in 2004.

From Odt.co.nz:

Fairfax Media’s Auckland multi-media business newsroom would be boosted by eight journalists who currently work for The Independent.

Group executive editor Paul Thompson said the excellent work by The Independent journalists would now be widely available.

“Those journalists will form a crucial part of Fairfax Media’s multi-media Auckland newsroom, which provides high-quality journalism to all our brands in print and online.

“We believe it is particularly important to provide stronger business coverage online as that is where most readers of business news go first for reliable and agenda-setting stories.”

Thompson told NZPA that the company did not have any plans for new publications and it had not been in talks with rival National Business Review.

“We have got two Sunday papers in this market, we have a stable of community newspapers and we have a strong online presence.

The team of The Independent reporters would continue to work as specialist business reporters.

Panel by India to boost economic times with the USIndia will be setting up a high-level committee for identifying areas to expand economic ties with the United States, the destination from which it expects to get an estimated investment of $250-300 billion in infrastructure space.

This disclosure was made by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee to PTI in an interview in Washington. Terming his meetings here as very successful, Mukherjee said: “My bilateral discussions with Secretary of the State (Hillary Clinton) and the Secretary of Treasury (Timothy Geithner) clearly indicated that they are interested in widening and deepening the relationship between India and the US.

“On the whole I say, this was a good visit and all the meetings were successful.”

“We have identified certain issues on which we should work together. And this was the recommendations made jointly by both Indian CEOs and the US counterparts – education, infrastructure, clean energy, bio tech and health,” Mukherjee said.

Online Presence Making Itself Accessible For Small BusinessesIf you are running an offline business or online business with no regular updates, it is time for you to get your acts together and go online and regularly update your online presence.

With more and more customers going and staying online, you are doing no good to the prospects of your business by opting for offline presence or not-updated online presence.

From Bloggersandmarketers.com:

Online Presence allows a modern-day business to create a trustworthy image before its existing and potential customers. Such a positive image helps the business gain more qualified business leads without putting any pressure on its resources. In short, online presence is the best marketing tool available for a business that can help it turn things ‘on’ when the counterparts are still finding it hard to making things ‘going.’

It is important to note here that opting for online presence can be one of the most critical decisions of a business. This is because while online presence attained through a professionally designed website and effective styles of marketing can help a business gain enough momentum to stay ahead of the competition, “ignored” online presence can offer no good to a business despite a heavy investment on it in the initial stages, leading to losses.

In short, benefits of online presence can be more than good enough to put you ahead of the competition but only if care to update presence of your business on the web.

Online ads admired by GM, Maruti, Honda & HyundaiCarmakers are amplifying spending on digital advertisements in the recent months to attract tech-savvy people in the age group of 25-44 years.

By digital marketing, companies such as General Motors India, Maruti Suzuki India, Honda Siel Cars India, and Hyundai Motor India are zeroing in on the core consumer profile that is generally chased.

From Economictimes.indiatimes.com:

Companies such as General Motors India, Maruti Suzuki India, Honda Siel Cars India and Hyundai Motor India are investing at least a tenth of their marketing budgets online. The digital medium helps these companies zero in on the core consumer profile that they typically chase.

“The average age of car buyers has dropped from 39 years to 35 years. These consumers are well-connected online,” said Mayank Pareek, executive director (marketing & sales) Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s largest carmaker.

Carmakers have traditionally been investing heavily through television and outdoor advertising during launches, re-launches or price revisions, followed by the time-tested print medium. Digital promotion, seen in an experimental light, mostly took a backseat in the marketing plans.

Mahindra & Mahindra auto division senior marketing vice-president Vivek Nayer said digital marketing is better than the conventional media as one can easily track results.
